Leitrim is widely acknowledged as an established angling destination and has hosted numerous national and international angling competitions. Both river and lake fishing is available.
Coarse fish species include tench, bream, rudd, hybrids pike and eels.
Game fish species include wild salmon, grilse, sea trout and brown trout.
Leitrim’s fisheries are constantly monitored and maintained by the Fisheries Boards so that a high degree of excellence is assured at all times with respect to water quality, angling requirements and fish stocks.
